Linen Services
About Our Service
SCL offer a comprehensive Linen Service that is responsive, flexible and conducted to very high NHS standards. This not only creates a pleasant, welcoming environment for patients and visitors, but also prevents the spread of infection, ensuring that patients receive safe and high quality care whilst on our premises and enjoy a positive patient experience.
We conduct National Standards Healthcare Cleanliness (NSHC) and PLACE (Patient Led Assessments of the Care Environment) inspections and use feedback from these to improve the service we provide.
We have a close partnership with County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust’s (CDDFT) Infection Prevention and Control team, and as part of our linen provision we offer a 24/7 planned and reactive service to acute and community sites across the Trust portfolio. Our highly trained staff use modern technology ensuring efficiency and accountability of all clean and soiled linen used and processed.
Elis UK Ltd is our existing Approved Subcontractor for the sites we manage on behalf of the Trust, which includes:

The linen services team utilise a web based helpdesk system enabling them to quickly react to situations and monitor progress. The system captures real-time job status visibility from job acceptance to job completion; it assigns the tasks to nearest available operative; it alerts the linen team instantly that a task has been assigned to them; the system enables the linen assistant to make and receive calls, to and from other users if required. We can see job delays with reasons in real time. It has a customisable dashboard, and is colour coded to aid job response/completion times. The system also provides a full suite of exportable trend analysis reports across all tasks.
All managers are active members of the society of hospital linen service managers ensuring the department is involved in national and regional development schemes enhancing, improving and raising standards through training and development.
The service is ISO9001:2015 accredited.
